Honestly Lisa

♥Honestly Lisa is a Pu Pu Platter of my life. Once a week I will conduct(formal I know) interviews with everyone from family,, guru's, exboyfriends, childhood friends, thought leaders and maybe even Oprah in search of who I am and what I'm supposed to be. when I grow up. There is salty language, talk of sex , feelings, and spiritual stuff. So you may not want to listen in front of the kids or your coworkers. Love Bites are audio clips based on real conversations from my love life, featuring my friend Robbie Rist, who plays every man who has graced my path. Men Are People Too, where I interview a variety of men; comedians, actors, musicians, artists, writers, computer programmers, yoga guru's, to gain a sometimes hilarious and sometimes serious perspective on how men see love, sex and relationships from their side of the ship. Ladies, you will learn so much about men! Listen in and hear the truth. And sometimes I will just share random musings on life, love, fashion and food or anything else that strike my fancy. And that’s the magpie.

This week I have Jessica Gottlieb & Stefanie Pollard. I met them on Instagram. I followed them for a while and then realized he had all the same haunts. They shop with what appears to be no guilt and I wanted some of that Koolaid. I have talked about my shopping problem before. I feel shame for buying clothes and I love it. Like the dude who you knew did want anything but sex and you liked him more and new you would get hurt and slept with anyhow. I don't why I have this need, I have talked about it with therapist, blah! If I have the perfect outfit I will have a perfect life? Or other people with think I have a perfect life? Or is it because we shopped a lot growing up and it brings me comfort like moms oatmeal cookies for other.

Shannon Whaley Traveling Wildwoman!

Women's business and marketing coach - works with passionate and driven service based entrepreneurs, taking side gigs and turning them into sustainable businesses.

Lisa gets sidetracked to begin with, forgets to eat and then buys a really expensive salad.

Has been doing this for a while, but has kind of changed and morphed all along.

Just broke up with 3 year boyfriend, and is moving to Italy. Longest relationship except cats, who are living with her mom.

She thinks a lot of people start coaching to live wherever they want.

Hannah Dixon (listen to the episode with Hanna here) Location independent.

Danielle LaPorte - amazing author on figuring out what you want to feel, to be the person you want to be.

Shannon's core desired feelings: ease, passion, freedom, adventure. (I use these when I'm making decisions, will they get me closer or father away from my mission?)

Intuitive feelings with excitement or trepidation "don't do this!"

"Now that I'm sober, I have more access to those feelings." - Shannon

"I have a feeling, I don't know how often I listen to my intuition" - Lisa

Met boyfriend long before they got together, she was a cocktail waitress in Seattle, he was a DD for his friends.

2013 - Left Seattle and moving to San Diego to be a hairstylist, but also had to be a waitress to support her growing hair business. But really didn't want to do the same thing she was doing in Seattle.

Was invited to Cayman Islands by boyfriend to visit, and moved there because she wanted to do something different. Her boyfriend was already sober, she knew she was done and needed a clean start.

"of course I was that girl and came home wasted" - Shannon

When did you discover that you could make money online?

The Pathfinder, Nicholas Lore

Started looking at what was possible for her, yoga teacher, coach... Coach!

Had gone to Tony Robbins events, and used to be a counselor and has a degree in psychology, and thought "That would be a perfect way to use my degree and help people" And I could help anyone anywhere in the world.

"Everything I wanted when I graduated from college, but didn't know how to access" - Shannon

Working with women in crisis, vs. making themselves better.

She's taken two coach trainings, Institute for life coach training, inner glow circle.

Becoming an assistant trainer so she can be a coach trainer.

Has a one-on-one clientele and a group class starting in April. Has a retreat coming up in Italy in June.

Who is coming to you? Coaches.

I've helped a man start a fishing charter business, "It transcends industries, but I prefer working with women and coaches."

Where do you start?

Work on getting legal first. (terms, disclaimers, permits, licences)

Work on money

"I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever figure it out" - Lisa

"We are all doing it over and over again, and it shows up in a different outfit every time"- Lisa

Profit First by Mike Michalowicz

Working with a money strategist coach - Carrie Fry Williams

You want two checking accounts.

All business money goes into business checking.

All personal money goes into personal checking.

two savings

one is profit / one is taxes

All business money goes in to business checking, and pay myself twice a month from there.

My first business basically shut down, so I've launched a new one! Now, 50% of what I make goes to me personally. - Shannon

"It's so common with entrepreneurs, they pay themselves last." - Shannon

I help women make their business sustainable. - Shannon

In the Cayman Islands, you need business partners. I didn't' know what I was doing, and they ended up pulling out because of that.

We have a gift, and our strong points aren't business related. This isn't natural for me.

I don't want to be like my dad, and I don''t want my daughter to have to take care of me. - Lisa

Shannon "Needed support because I felt lost"

There are so many horror stories about people handing their money over to someone and getting stolen from.

"I'd rather be in my zone, and hire this out" - Shannon

"I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing to make money" -Lisa

"It's my sugar daddy, it pays for me and the cat, and my 30 year old daughter-not really" -Lisa

I want to show women that it's okay to be human. I don't want to do stand up anymore, but I want to go speak, and inspire women through my comedy. I want to journey with them. That's how I want to make my money, plus it's location independent.

I know there are things that I'm supposed to be doing...

Visit Shannon's website, and sign up for the free gift! (opt in guide!) about how to thank clients for signing up, keep them warm, send them gifts, keep them coming back, give them actual valuable things so they look forward to your messages.

How would you work with me?

Read the Pathfinder. Know what it is you want to be doing.

I recently wrote a vision statement:

"I am bringing thousands of women laughter, community, and self acceptance though my comedy and self acceptance through Honestly Lisa."

I want them to know that I'm going on the journey with them. Audio/video, words, blogging, weekly newsletters and speaking.

SPEAKING - how do you make money doing this?

Have packages - Like the Be Silly Now Course (21-day video series)

"How can I be a coach, I don't have my shit together" -Lisa

"If I'm going to lie to myself, just being fully aware of it" - Lisa

Danielle LaPorte is a good model for me..

"I think I'm a really fun girlfriend" - Lisa

Death Coaches  (listen to the episode with Martha Jo Atkins here)

Construction coaches for men who didn't have a knowledge.

"Have your breakdown, show you're a real person, and come out on the other side with takeaways" - Shannon

"I'd love to do a fake seminar that actually gets people real" - Lisa

"These are the spiritual leaders I'm supposed to be following?" - Shannon

Contenders for getting on track

Marie Forleo's B School

Martha Beck

Being Boss

Verbal Rorschach

love - ugh

eyes - green

tacos - pork

blanket - fuzzy

peaches - fuzzy

computers - it's on

Lisa Orkin feat. Jennifer Vally

I admit that this episode is ripe with name dropping, and might not be very deep. But it was good to talk to someone who I feel is a contemporary of mine as well as someone who was in the same shoes.

Ye Olde News starring Robbie Rist as Benjamin Franklin

We've known each other at least 20 years. We met at LA Cabaret.

"We were both young mothers who wanted to be comedians." - Lisa

"I had so much more energy when I had little kids to get me up on stage" - Lisa

"If my butt can stick out farther than my belly, I'm good." - Lisa

Trying to find contemporaries. Young brunette mothers. Not a lot of women in the comedy venues. We felt like we were pretty unusual.

"Will you drive me to my gig? I'll let you be my opening act" - Jennifer on how she got her first paid comedy gig.

"You get up when it's dark, don't you?" - Jennifer

Thinking about doing Roast Battle at the Comedy Store

Jennifer was in theatre when she was growing up, moved and did some summer theatre, then moved to LA and did sketches and got into comedy.

"You couldn't get on stage unless you wrote something for yourself" - Jennifer on being a woman in sketch theatre.

"I know what's funny now, it's a science" - Lisa

"I'm not sure I know why people laugh, but I know what will make them laugh." - Lisa

"I speak with my ex too. We have kids!" - Jennifer

We got more done when we had little kids. FYI to the millenials, kids do not change your lifestyle. "I had a cleaner house and I got way more done" - Lisa

Babs - Our dear Babs. A woman in her 40s when we were young comediennes. She had children and she was a comic and writer all along.

Contemporaries: Maria Bamford , Zach Galifianakis, Chelsea Handler, Heather (Chelsea's writer)

"I felt like I couldn't compete because I was a mom" - Lisa

Don't sleep with comics. Even if you're the opposite sex, there's still the competitive vibe.

Going pee outside, trying not to pee on my shoes.

Tree People - bathrooms that are dark because of motion sensor lights.

Being safe in a creepy neighborhood, keep a frying pan in your car.

Can you bury your pets just anywhere?

"Cremate me and sprinkle me at fryman or the shoe department..." - Lisa, after I die.

"I will not shop in stores where I don't believe in their practices." - Jennifer

not macy's too! And bed bath and beyond. "I wanted an instapot, but I guess I'll just get it off amazon" - Lisa

"Amazon prime is like my boyfriend" - Lisa

We went to the women's march!

Marla Maples - more beautiful in person, still!

Favorite signs at the women's march

"Keep abortions safe and legal Trump / ABORT TRUMP"

"Without immigrants, Trump would have no wives"

Hollywood is such a small world, but not even within Hollywood. Weirdest connections.

Pregnant by choice, photoshoot pregnant with an american flag. "The reluctant madonna"

I want to do comedy again, but I don't want to jump through the hoops, I've already done that.

Set List

Auditioning for America's got talent, like they wanted her to have a gimmick. Wanted her to be a grandmother, feeling pigeon holed as a woman in a certain between age stage.

VERBAL RORSCHACH!

Taco - Tuesday

Table - Top

Love - Hate

Beans - Cheese

Sushi - Stinky

Grass - Smoke

Forest - Trees

Horse - Hair

Bucket - Pail

Do you have a bucket list? No.

How long is her bucket list? It makes it sounds like she's dying!

"Well I did that, I'm done now" - Lisa about her grandfather

What's your favorite bush?

Barbara. Of all the bushes, she's better than an Oleander.

Hannah Dixon - Digital Nomad

(Links coming soon!)

She's currently in Hanoi, although based out of Bangkok. Sardinia, Sicily, Budapest...

I want to live your life" - Lisa

I think the pros outweigh the cons for sure." - Hannah

The digital nomad community is incredible everywhere. They do meet ups for dinner and drinks and such.

Hannah is a virtual assistant but is now training other virtual assistants.

She's been a VA for three years, and on the road for the last 8 years.

She worked at a husky dog center, a farm in Italy, mostly bars and farms.

"I think we forget how privileged we are when we just want to "get out of here""- Hannah

Why are you moving again? "I don't have a home"- Hannah

Do you get sick? Yes I'm a bit more sensitive to that.

What's the first thing you tell people who want to transition to this lifestyle?

Take your laptop and work on the other side of town all day. If you can do that, then you kind of have an indication already if you can do this thing.

Take smaller trips. Go to a different city in your country for a month.

You have a lot of things you have to change all the time.

You can't be sentimental about stuff anymore.

Hannah is from London, UK, and she'll stop home about once a year in October for her parents and her birthday.

What made you decide to do this?

I guess I was travelling already, I knew this nomadic lifestyle was for me. I never even considered working online, I was a farm girl. Past partner taught her how.

"I know it doesn't just happen-but it does!" - Lisa

Working online, it's so important to have these communities online.

(insert communities)

"It's like another family, and I'm not even on the road" - Lisa

What's the best place you've been to?

Budapest! (she confirms the food is great!)

Low cost of living, and being an introvert, the people aren't going to chat you up a lot. Outdoor baths and autonomy.

Who do you follow? Who do you think is really cool that's doing what you're doing?

Natty and Jodie - the house sitting academy

The had a business in Dubai that went really wrong but they're kind of house sitting extraordinaire so they decided to teach people how! They teach you how to make sure that you're selected for sought after sits. An online community with referrals. They don't pay you and you don't pay them.

"I usually save a bunch of money and plan a two week trip, but I think I want something else now" - Lisa

It's actually very much up to you "You just need your first months rent and a plane ticket" - Hannah

Flight stein - a subscription that finds you the best price flights

Nomad Fly - flight hacking course saving $100s and $100s

Having a boyfriend / dating.

What if you have a partner that's in a stable job? Should you just date nomads?

No real solution, but this lifestyle is becoming more normal, so we're still looking for solutions.

Did it get more addicting as you did it?

Yes, after becoming a digital nomad. You meet people who tell you about amazing places and you "Get a bit of jealousy, I want to go there!" - Hannah

"There's a whole different life out there" - Lisa

You're really chasing WiFi, right?" - Lisa

Nomad list - a resource for checking places out, i.e. is it safe/female friendly/wifi/cost of living

Are there people in their 40's and 50's?

Oh yeah! Way older than that too!

What if I'm seasick the whole time?" Lisa on sailing around the world on a boat.

Co-boat - co working co living sailboat that goes around the world for digital nomads!

One of the big issues with traveling a lot is Visas. Always having to do visa runs. Counting down the days having to rush places.

"I have a year lease on my apartment but I can't be in the country for more than two months at a time. Have to get on a plane and leave." - Hannah

I could have just flown out for a day and back, but it's cheap so I figured I'd visit.

Worst place?

I've been to many places where the other people haven't liked it, but i'm very easy going and I realize " that's the way they do that here"

Sicily- More run down than anywhere and very corrupt system. Getting ripped off all the time. Little Mafia towns. Alcomo?

"Really run down with dead cats on the street, okay I'm good" - Lisa

"I walked up to my hostel, and there's a man shaving a cat on the doorstep. Luckily I gave it a chance" - Hannah

Everything in Vietnam is a mild inconvenience, things just don't work the same.

Airbnb gives refunds if it isn't at all what you expected!

BTBY event in New York, not LA.

"It's the new year, I wanted to put out into the world...this is my plan!" - Lisa

If you're thinking that you can't do it, here's a little sheet that helps pinpoint how you can do this digitally. This is from my course.

"Identify what you're doing in your traditional job and how you can take that online" - Hannah

"There's nothing wrong with keeping a home base." - Hannah

You can rent it out with airbnb while you're not there, and make money, you can also plan around when you need to be home.

How cheap is it? How much are you paying to sleep?

Air bnb is expensive because it's not long term. $180 for the week, which is pricey for the area. $70 is local style, "I opt for the western style toilets and showers"- Hannah

Long term, $350/month in Bangkok, water bill is .40/month. Share it with someone, it has a gym and a pool - and this is the more expensive side. Airbnb is great because it helps you test it out.

Facebook group where people talk about all this stuff.

VA-a personal assistant online, and the scope is even more. (website, answering emails...)

"I don't call anywhere home, which people find really strange." - Hannah

"I don't need a place to call home when I know that the world is mine" - Hannah

What about medical insurance?

"The only issue is in the US. Medical care is cheap or free anywhere else" - Hannah

The only time when she buys insurance is coming to the US. As a dual UK-US citizen she travels with her UK passport and buys travel insurance.

"You're renting a nice place for what I pay in insurance monthly" - Lisa

"Bali is a little bit less gritty, feels more comfortable, and it's still cheap" - Hannah

"I kind of gave you a bad question" - Lisa

Carrie Silver

"health coach and functional nutritionist, working with women and balancing hormones"

It's not just women of women of your age, it's women of all ages.

During all ages of our lives we are going through fluctuations.

Each woman is going through the same fluctuations as their best friend!

"I'm we're all running together, then why doesn't the whole world get it's period?"

In the first phase of the month we are feeling happy, and toward the period (end of the month) we have less energy.

"we just can't throw as many parties!" - carrie on when we have less energy in our cycle.

"I'm putting this in my body and I know my body's not going to be happy" - Lisa on eating traditional glutinous pancakes for her fasting glucose test.

"Hormones are building blocks and we need nutrients to make them work properly." - Carrie

"Change is scary for people, for everyone, for me!" - Carrie

Carrie was always the healthy type, but always felt like crap. Had a lot of anxiety and depression and no libido. Extremely painful periods. Very active and realized when she was super low blood sugar that she needed to figure it out.

She had an inkling and went to see a functional medicine doctor that told her about hormones.

Up until then she thought something was wrong with her. "Let's fix you" This whole weight lifted, and it's not about what was wrong with her, but her body.

"If your body's mechanisms aren't working right you're going to be depressed" -Lisa

"Sometimes it gets hard to figure out what to eat." - Lisa

We definitly have to cut out some things that are causing inflammation, and when we look at the connection between the brain and the body.

"Sometimes its not what you have to cut out, but what you're putting in." - Carrie

We are taught our whole life to go on this deprivation diet. Telling some women to take it out, that's going to cause even more stress. Stress is a huge factor that people don't even take in.  - Carrie

Carrie loves going to the women's health section in the bookstore, and she happened across the orgasmic diet. She had never liked chocolate, and this book encouraged her to incorporate more chocolate.

"incorporating new foods is where to start"- Carrie"

"We are not talking about a Hershey bar here" - Lisa

"there are a lot of nutritious foods that are frickin' yummy"

"I get aroused from sweet potatoes" - Carrie

Sweet potato is good before your period, and its great for building seratonin, which helps with anxiety and mood.

"We're living in such an awesome age" - Carrie

"I use hemp milk, I just want the world to know" - Lisa

I haven't had a period in four months, menopause is signaled by a year of no period. I feel like I'm in a constant state of PMS.

Greens at every meal, what kinds of fats are you having?

Can we talk about the gut? I love talking about the gut.

"There are so many tests out there now to find out what's going on in the gut" - Carrie

Healing food, restoring the intestinal lining. Leaky gut- when particles making it beyond the intestinal wall.

Functional medicine doctors - they look at the root cause of the problem. Little bit of testing and natural medicine, blend of eastern and western medicine.

Once you solve the root cause, then you're solving symptoms.

Not feeling well happens over time and you don't realize you're not your best self.

"One day you're like, This is my life and I don't feel very vibrant" - Lisa

"I 100% believe everyone should the life they fricken want to live." - Carrie

Women say, oh this is just the way it is. About sex, about food, other passions.

When we are looking at anything, there are always multiple cause possibilities" - Carrie

Glennon Doyle Melton's Love Warrior

"How are you supposed to have a good experience in the bedroom if you're stressed out?" - Carrie

"Orgasms have a lot of potential health benefits" - Carrie

Produces oxytocin, which is anti cortisol (stress hormone, one of the women's health epidemics)

"Getting pleasure is such a huge part of the healing process for women." - Carrie

Book rec: Dr. Christiane Northrup Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom

"There are a lot of things in my life that I never really dealt with like I thought I had." -Lisa

I wonder if that's contributing. Did I spend too much time covering up that I don't know how not to be that person.

People think PMS is normal. Severe painful, periods, every month.

"Do you think that's normal? I learned to deal with it" - Carrie

"1/4 of YOUR LIFE that you feel pretty shitty" - Carrie

"25 years of feeling shitty- not okay!" - Lisa

"My mother used to say, 'People do their best work when they're not feeling well'" - Lisa

"It's not just effecting us health wise, how is it causing us in our relationships, in work, being a mother when we are feeling like fucking crap?" - Carrie

You don't have to live like that. Think of how much better life could be when you don't have to live like that.

Are you putting nutritious foods in your body? are you taking probiotics? What is your stress level like?

"Overhauling your life might not be a good situation"- Carrie

"What is MY normal?" - Lisa

Instead of taking things away, what's one good thing you can add?

Foods that help women during PMS:

Bone broth: good for the gut.

There's a bone broth bar in Portland!

Sweet Potatoes and eggs and greens for breakfast - Carrie

Avocado is great for healing the gut too!

What are you incorporating into your diet?

People underestimate the power of short walks.

Do you meditate? Yes. It's my own me time. Having to do it, vs. choosing to do it. Visualization time. It becomes fun.

Be Silly Now - for helping people be in the now, for laughing at themselves.

Finding things to add to your life that make you happier. Not about piling it on.

Finding ways to be present.

Give yourself permission to feel good. I deserve to feel good!

Previously a pastor. I met Ted at a Rob Bell lecture/seminar.

Ted is painting houses now.

Grew up in a legalist Christian background. Was a pastor for about 17 years, expresses it was both the best and worst of times.

He didn't know how to navigate depression that he'd experienced his whole life.

Lisa describes pea soup.

Ted needed an escape from his life, became secretive about his sex addiction and finally confessed his actions. "A boulder on my chest that was going to kill me dead."

His wife saw two choices before her, and decided to stay with him, the road that led to life, not to darkness and resentment.

He was on skype with his counselor and said he wanted to leave his family. She responded, "are you a man who leaves?" - This question saved his life. "why am I?"

There are moments in life where we don't know what's going to happen.

Even in our darkness, there's little bits of light that shine through- Lisa

"Life is a canvas that you just get to keep painting on" - Ted

Sometimes we need a huge moment to wake us up, to break us open, to peel back the layers.

"God I'm not done with you yet." The issue wasn't staying or going from the marriage.

"Christianity has writer's block, they aren't good at embracing mystery." - Ted

"I don't believe it's a man, it's all a big giant force that's in the room with me." - Lisa

"I am a recovering know it all" - Ted

"Embracing the mystery, God has become more big and beautiful" - Ted

It's tough to put together the fragments of a 2,000 year old book.

"Electricity, love, marriage, keeping the faith is mystery." - Ted

"We are all in the mystery, we are all in the same boat" - Ted

When God came in, and experience.

"Sometimes I don't know if i should tell these stories, because I don't know what they will do to people" - Ted

Escape became a very powerful thing, "Wow this is real dumb, I gotta give this up."

We think it's love, but it's not love.

"Hold on, I'm just a guy, there's no way I could make that feeling happen." Being overcome with feeling while driving.

Was shown a vision of Aces, in a poker hand. "Something else was going on here. This was not coming from me, but from out there."

Began rubbing his belly.

"Hey do you have a stomach ache?" "No, I feel like I have a baby in my belly" And then we all began to pray.

They thought I was going to be ill, they began yelling prayers at me, and then I was sick. At the end, I felt as though all of the evil had left me.

Physical manifestation of feelings or lessons.

"It's not I, but it's sin living in me" Paul, saying, I'm not a sinner, but it's in me.

Sin: Being off the path

It will manifest within us if we are not being our best selves. It leads to disease. If we are hiding, or lying to ourselves.

"when you use a certain language over people it d

Sometimes the truth is so scary. We are so scared we're going to die from that truth.

"it becomes easier and easier to stick our head in the sand, but you can't breathe anymore" - Lisa

Lisa "Prayer is just a pep talk to ourselves" and wrote it off.

Then I dated a christian. He was super kind to the world, showed me how to be in service. I was drawn into this by the sex. I knew all of my friends would think I was weird.

I've learned that when I do prayer, or meditation, or mantra, it helps my brain stay straight.

"Having faith that the world is better than I imagine it to be."

"My life is not about me." The line I read in a book that I never read the rest of - Ted

"Prayer and worship for me is being grateful and thankful for a force outside myself" - Ted

What worship is like, am I in the moment, or is the moment in me. "He's standing there and knows - The world is way bigger than me

"I hate to admit that I didn't realize it wasn't about me" - Lisa

It doesn't matter why you're helping others.

"When we are helping another, we are loving god"

Back to his friends house, He went to bed and he was full of love. The room was full of love, "Soft lightening striking my heart".

Almost felt like it was too much love, he thought he might die.

We all want that religious experience! Instead of chasing the experience, I would way "whatever you want you got"

Try to figure out the wind.

"I've got friend who have experiences like this every day, and I want to punch them in the face!" - Ted

Not getting needs met, through sex adrenaline. 18 month shelf life.

Ted has been married 15 years, halfway through marriage realized he was over doing it, and learned to re-frame it, and see it differently.

Intimacy without sex.

"Far too many relationships fall short of the sweet place humans can experience" - Ted

"Father, Son, Holy Spirit, My Wife" She decides she's going to love the leper." now there is the message of god. His grace swooping me up in my most leperous moment. My wife, playing out the story of Christ in my living room" - Ted

"What is love: I'm going to stick with you through the changes."

"Marriages are going to have storms"

"I authentically want him to thrive,"- Lisa  "You are on that grace-giving side of the equation" - Ted

His wife says she was filled with something that she couldn't explain.

A Biblical story, the election.

[Tweet theme="tweet-box-normal-blue"]"America has stomach ache" - Lisa[/Tweet]

Have we been consuming too much junk food? Record gluten intolderance levels?

The emotions are so high and we aren't doing anything about it. We want someone else to do it.

"I just sit here and want." - Lisa

[Tweet theme="tweet-box-normal-blue"]"I think we are all looking at ourselves today, we want to be a part of the movement" - Ted[/Tweet]

It's not the traditional sense of giving back, we all have a gift maybe.

"My wife is a wonderful women. She levitates in this realm of wisdom" - Ted

The experience of being alive. Not doing something, not being aware of doing something. That is the gift of life.

"I thought I knew what humility was: playing a smaller role" - Lisa

[Tweet theme="basic-white"]"When someone gives you language for what you're going through." - Ted[/Tweet]

When you find language for your own life, and others look in and learn something.

"I had a counselor named Mary that made me do visual art." - Lisa

Ted was teaching seminars on marriage and porn, but didn't see it.

He didn't know how to love himself, wanted to be a savior, had the ego.

"We learn to be needy sometimes" - Ted

"I am living with pain, and i'm okay with that. But just saying that its' starting to get better, I'm starting to understand it more." - Ted

Buddha

The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism (from School of Champions)

  1. Suffering exists
  2. Suffering arises from attachment to desires
  3. Suffering ceases when attachment to desire ceases
  4. Freedom from suffering is possible by practicing the Eightfold Path

"I know that god is for us, and loves us" - Ted

"I wish I could lean on my faith more" - Lisa

"It's because I'm hungry, that I believe, it's my appetite that tells me there's a meal" - Ted

"I'm pulled, there's something pulling me in this human gravity" - Ted

Theme in Christian blogging: How do you leave the God of your childhood?

[Tweet theme="tweet-box-normal-blue"]"Scary for a little kind to think that praying the wrong way will get them killed" - Lisa[/Tweet]

Christians picking up Jewish traditions for the rhythm.

Ted teaches Lisa to pray to god in the closet.

"I never let myself be still" - Lisa

"for me to be quiet and think, what is it that I want, what do I feel. As a girl, I felt I wasn't important" - Lisa

[Tweet theme="tweet-box-normal-blue"]"It sounds like you're at the ocean and you're afraid to swim, but I think you're at the ocean" - Ted[/Tweet]

"You don't need permission, just swim." - Ted

Surrender is so hard for people who grew up with little control.

"if you're in atheist, you choosing not to believe in god" - Lisa

Why would you do that if something doesn't exist?

The only thing holding you back, is the story of "Who am I?"

Who are you not to be that person, why not you?

"Who am I, not to have that, why aren't I allowing myself to have that?" - Lisa

If you fully stepped out on the stage to be silly, what would that mean for you?

Lisa: People wouldn't take me seriously...... EXACTLY

Jim Carey and Robin Williams do both!

I'm afraid I won't be taken seriously, but I'm already not empowering myself to do it.

I renounced my self help books. My friends were so disappointed.

The self help was the next crutch to keep you from being your best self. The tool or the crutch.

Let the products come from going out on stage and doing your thing.

Teaching through comedy and humor.

"Most people need to learn to laugh at themselves" -Amanda

"I am missing something" - I am in the same money place I always am - Lisa

"WHY ARE YOU NOT GETTING THIS?"

That is your brain trying to get you into judgement mode to get you into the downward spiral

The more you step into your power, the brain starts screaming these obscenities at you. As soon as you acknowledge that thought pattern is happening then you can say, really Lisa, how has all this personal development enhanced my life" - Amanda

The self help lets me see more beauty, be more compassionate - Lisa

"Can you see a connection to opportunities because you were in a better mindset? More attractive opportunities?" - Amanda

"The jobs come in and then they dry up and I'm in a bad mood and bad space. I get to be funny, I get to have my own show basically, but it's my dad's. I don't feel like it's mine. - Lisa

Not allowing yourself to have the full fulfillment because of the judgement.

"I want to attract clients that love OUR work, as it stands now" - Lisa

What I focus on I attract, I can focus on the idea that the new clients are attracted because of us.

Let's change the language from "that's what I Would want," to "People are coming to us all the time for what we create and unique energy and sense of advertising."

Visualizing the clients happily coming to you, telling everyone how amazing you are. Coming because they've heard of you.

"I see like 100 people" - Lisa

They are ready for you to accept that you are ready and there for them.

(777 word count - Doreen Virtue Angel Numbers)

The platter is there waiting for us.

"here is the beautiful meal, but I will stick with what I've been doing, cause I have had it forever. "

I do a show that goes really well and want to go home.

"Have to switch hats, and go meet the next connection." - Amanda

"Lisa's not here, you don't want her you want her father, her brother, Amy Sedaris, SJP"- Fuck that!

"From now on, I want you to open the freaking door. If you're in doubt, I want you to visualize the people out there waiting for you" - Amanda

Get to the audience through keynote speaking. THINK BIGGER.

Close your eyes. Now, imagine you've walked into a conference. You are one of the speakers, you've walked up on stage, the music, the lights are going, how many people are in the audience? What are they doing?

Thousands. Its where I'm supposed to be.

You felt human because you were in your element and what you're supposed to be doing.

How you've been trained as a comedian to do all that grunt work. Which you've already done.

"How do I go, book me? Because I know I can pull it out of my ass in front of 1000 people."

COMIC CREDIBILITY! Proven funny thousands of times all over the country.

(999 word count - Doreen Virtue Angel Numbers)

"You already have the expertise" - Amanda

Keep sticking your head back in the hole, until you decide to see different options and possibilities.

"You keep going to the past, you've made it all up so it can be as real as you want it to be" - Amanda

I'm the only one that doesn't see it -

"Their blind spot is their own gift- Our innate gifts are so easy for us, we automatically assume everyone can do it" - Amanda

"I'm not the girl who fucked up cheer leading try outs anymore" - Lisa

"Most of us spend our lives beating ourselves up for the things we can't do." - Amanda

"How funny are accountants?" - Amanda

Just decide. Everything comes from a decision. The next step will appear when you make that decision.

Playing small is a reoccurring theme on my podcast.

"Stop that. I have no time for this nonsense. Just freaking do it!"

Act as if it's already true.

It is already true, you just have to act as if it's already true.

Therefore I'm going to take the step and open the door. I open the door by believing it's already true.

"Take action as if you're already that famous speaker on stage." - Amanda

Feel yourself there. Not just imagining. Feel.

Your life is completely different. Even than that person you thought was you.

Amy Wright and The Drunk Mom

She took a bunch of business courses, and nothing ever happened for her. She kept at it because she thought she was supposed to.

"Hustle More!" She ran herself into the ground for 7 years trying to make it work.

She is raising a teenager, and trying to be a perfect parent. Why isn't anything working out?

She snapped 5-6 months ago, wasn't enjoying what she'd done in her life lost her mind.

"You know what would be really cool? Cause I'm a genius!" - Amy

She told her husband she wanted to make videos about all the things moms do but don't want to talk about. He was worried for the kids sake, but then she just went ahead and made the videos. She didn't tell her husband for months.

"I don't want to die with any regrets" - Amy

The videos were extremely well received, and she said her first step was to make a facebook page with videos she thought were totally hilarious.

She hit 5000 likes within a few weeks, and her previous business page was torture. People loved this.

She gets emails from people who were having a hard time with their kids and lives.

The way I went viral, Share Ross, told her facebook live would grow her page fast. No regrets, let's do this!

She locked herself in her bathroom, sitting on the toilet talking about real life. "The time I shit my pants and the story of imperfection."

We are cautious about what we put online, sometimes its really scary. Did I just put very real stuff out there?

26000 followers in three months. It's crazy. People love that its real life, and it makes them feel normal.

She shared how nasty her car was after driving the kids around for a few days.

My husband had a barbie shoe stuck to his butt.

The one that went viral:

shit my pants

drunk dancing

gas station blocking diagram

Not doing anything but creating, not marketing anymore.

Amy had a baby when she was young.

Invited on a talk show, not really what she wanted to be doing, but it was a step in the right direction.

Now she just looks like s sad drunk mom on this show they ask her.

People fall down, it's so much more entertaining. Where did we get the idea that we shouldn't show our imperfections? - Lisa

"That shit has been communicated so long" Amy on expectations of moms to hide their imperfections.

"We feel like it's our fault if everything's not perfect." - Amy

"We live in this hidden society" - Lisa

My boyfriend covering up his farts with the coffee grinder.

"when you're not your true self, you just get depressed" - Lisa

"I'm not a huge fan of rejection." - Amy

How did your husband not find out?

He's fairly busy and they have 5 collective kids. Once things got going, and she got comfortable stepping into the role of playing honestly.

"I have this gut feeling, you can call it appalling or whatever, but I can't settle for a 9 to 5 job. I can't ignore the fact that I'm somewhat entertaining. I can't continue to push that down and ignore it, and not share my god given gift with the world."

Raised by hippies.

Bong on the coffee table, mirror and straw and razor. Successful parents, but very loving and accepting of people. It was just normal life for me.

Trying to communicate two different worlds into one.

"I've never been able to work for somebody" - Lisa on never being able to keep a job.

There's more than going somewhere you hate every day.

She doesn't know if it will ever make sense to her husband. Unless its raking in the dough.

Just making something and putting it out there has just turned into something amazing!

"If you're not doing what you're supposed to be doing it will be hard, if you're doing what you're supposed to be doing it will be easy."

She will make several videos a day when she sets aside time. She comes up with these ideas in her shower and keeps the ideas in an app on her phone. She films in her laundry room.

She edits her own videos still because she wants to make sure it comes out the way she means for it to.

"Until I know my standards, I really can't delegate that out." - Amy

Live streams as much as possible whenever she feels like it.

She talked to her kids about what she was doing so they wouldn't be surprised or embarrassed. She started with her oldest.

She explained to her kids how it will help people.

"I want my kids to see my following a path that's something I want to do. I want them to see me being fucking brave!" - Amy

Somebody let a man with a foot fetish into my show. He was groaning while I was barefoot on stage.

Amy wants to hire someone to go through and delete all the horrible comments. That's the first thing she will delegate when she can hire someone else.

People making shitty comments "you're a terrible excuse for a mother" nasty things, and stalking those mean people!

"You're not going to come in my living room and take a shit and leave. i'm gonna smear your face in it first, and then i'll escort you out the front door" - Amy

Folding the fitted sheet- first video she ever published!

"I see other people's linen closets and i'm like, I don't get it" - Lisa

Wanting to take control of all the things you should be doing, vs. doing what you do.

Share Ross- amazing, living as her real self.

"It was going to rock the boat too much, it was more change than i was willing to make at the moment." -Amy

I never wanted to perform again after my boyfriend showed up at a show where I totally talked about him.

Dinner: Dead or Alive

OPRAH!!!! Oprah came from some serious shit. More deplorable shit than any of us can imagine. She over came it as a black woman in the United States, struggled with her weight-- over and over and over again. "I love her resilience--it'd be Mama O!"

How do you imagine your death?

It's part of life... I always thought I would die young, it's always been the driving factor in life. "perceived as untimely." I want a funeral that is packed full and I don't want it to be solemn. Rocking music, play the jack in the box over the casket. "I don't want to leave this world without making a huge impact, is the bottom line"

Asshole grandparents. Dealing with the different generation and time in history.

Amy asks, "When did your pubes start to turn grey?"

Lisa replies: Skunk stripe early on. Then I died it. why. Then I vajazzled.

Pube sisters!

Lazer your chin hairs while they're black! The white ones won't be lazered!

I never expected to have a child. Never. But then I decided maybe I wanted to.

My spiritual, jewelry designing daughter, Becca Cuellar.

Can't remember when we met, how rude. Doesn't know how long we've known each other.

But I remember her in my uterus! I made her!

She and I are very close, it's just the two of us.

We weren't a religious family, but enjoyed the traditions. Loved participating with Bubbie (My mom) and loved being fed ice cream at nine months.

"Do you think you picked me out before you came?" - Lisa

oh totally!

"Was it embarrassing that I was a comic?" - Lisa

"I love being able to say I slept in a lot of backs of theatres when I was a kid"- Becca

I'm afraid she inherited my "artistic, sort-of let's make things all the time," and it's hard to make a living when you're making art all the time.

Becca dislikes that she spends money like I do.

"Neither of us know how to use what we do to make money" - Becca

Why does shopping make us feel better?

"How we picked out all this stuff, nobody knows" - Becca

"We are insane at manifesting clothing, but not the money to buy the clothing" - Lisa

Selling your clothes at wasteland, and crossroads, and how it feels like selling your soul.

The Thrift Mission - They have a Becca collection! Email to find out how to donate to them.

"If us buying clothing, in turn made someone else happy, then I am so okay with that" - Becca

"My friends line up at my back door to go through my clothes before I give them away" - Lisa

My friends get so much joy out of my old clothing. We are extremely gifted at manifesting clothing, we help others find things!

The moral of the story: JUST TRY IT ON.

We are so open to all the different opportunities and options, and we know that we would love to be surprised by joy. This is manifestation, just give it a try!

Did my daughter suck me into the yoga and spiritual life?

And I mean, really sucked in because we are both obsessed.

But we have such a close relationship, and we do fight, it happens. But we've traveled all over the country, and been to Paris together. (with all kinds of gauntlets. Sick for days, bank blocking our funds...)

How does she feel about me dating?

She wants me to be happy.

"I really hope she finds someone before I get married, or this will be depressing" - Becca

Don't hide your emotions and problems from your children.

I passed on my sensitivity to my daughter.

You're not over-sensitive! We just have a better alarm system.

Does it scare you that I might live with you in her old age?

Tantric Numerology

My daughter is a full on believer in all this spiritual stuff. I am way more skeptical.

She feels as though she was born with belief in spirituality.

Kundalini Yoga

The ten bodies

"Will you do all 40 days of the meditaion?"- Lisa

I would want to do it, I would plan on it, do five days and take two off and then kick myself for not making it.

Becca moved home after college for six months and I got her the most uncomfortable (BUT SO STYLISH) monk bed. I didn't want to make her too comfortable for fear of becoming Grey Gardens.

Deepak and Oprah 21-day Meditation made Becca have a vision of the future and to stop messing around. It's a really forgiving and gentle meditation program.  (They offer free ones every few months!)

Becca yoga studio hopped all over town. She never paid for a class all summer. And that was a great idea!

I kicked her out because she needed to go live her life in her way.

Are you embarrassed of me still being in show business?

"No--- You've been doing this a long time" - Becca

"Should I feel self conscious around your boyfriends family?"

No, more and more weird hippies show up, so you're not alone.

I'm asking my daughter what she thinks I should be doing with my life

Making people feel comfortable with themselves and making people laugh.

"How do you feel like you can give the most to people, in the most natural way possible, what is your most natural way, of giving people joy or comfort?" - Becca

We are learning that we are lucky in our world we can do what we do.

Becca would have dinner with Jean-Luc Picard. Not Patrick Stewart, who Lisa sees at her local ice cream shop all the time.

"I don't want to be cliche, but I really want to talk to Jesus" - Becca

Thinking about how my mom died 20 years from now. Does it scare Becca that I die?

No, she believes in technology.

What does she think of my boyfriend? "you're both so youthful in spirit"

Is it weird to smoke pot with my boyfriend?

"No, it's a comfort level thing"

What about my old boyfriends?

Being with someone because you both just really need someone.

"He has secrets, and I don't like that."- Becca

Becca yelled at my ex boyfriend through text message when he accidentally texted me. I thought we were getting back together!

Saying goodbye to my mom (Becca's Bubbie) when Becca was away on tour

We wondered if she never felt accomplished. We are both carrying on the support torch for her.

What does waking up feeling like a different person feel like?

We can shift and change those stories we tell about ourselves.

Kyle Cease, a comic that became a self-help guy.

How does she see herself dying? Bicentennial man, dying at home in my sleep with many cyborg body parts.

Your Fans are Waiting - and a spoken word piece at the end--- WHOA!

How would you describe yourself? Motivational person who teaches people how to be their best self and love their best self- and their worst self

Let's take all this and make something out of it.

The best way to describe what i do, is the combination of real tactics and strategies to change your live, to develop your business- primarily through art. Tony Robbins is a huge inspiration.

Identify who you are at the most raw, most honest, and put those pieces together as a mold and create the individual you see.

at 6'8" can seem very intimidating, but he is a sweet heart.

The physical represetation of who he is, and the quest to find more transparency in his life.

Grew up in DC in "you've got drive throughs, we've got drive bys"

"I saw more of the artist in you" as he has gotten to know Lisa.

Sanyika hanging out with a friend in a barber shop with his friend who liked to record his thoughts, and the recorder falls out of his pocket and all the guys think they're cops!

There is this weird idea that we have to torture ourselves to create. You can still be an artist and be creative.

"You don't have to be bound by the same chains of artistry and struggle. Those two things are mutually exclusive. You can still flourish and prosper." - Sanyika

[Tweet theme="basic-white"]"The demonization of money is the first way that artists have been held down." @sanyikastreet #honestlylisa[/Tweet]

[Tweet theme="tweet-box-normal-blue"]"If you've played it small long enough, when it looks like things are getting bigger, it gets scary." #honestlylisa[/Tweet]

Fear of bouncing off negative attention, fear of not being able to handle the money (Are you listening universe? I can handle it!)

Bouncing back and forth between high and low points. "At that low point, eitherI can choose to rise into the person I always imagine myself being, or i can just stay there and hide."

"Rising is scary" - Lisa

"Hiding is not a life satisfied" - Lisa

Listening to the heart lately, trusting things will be fine as they grow.

Everyone wanted Sanyika to fit into the mold, help them move.  "I am the pick up truck" because he's big and strong. But he organizes the truck--- not even do the heavy lifting!

Metaphor for what he does now! Wow!

[Tweet theme="tweet-box-normal-blue"]"The way you organize and empower people to do good is by asking the powerful questions" @SanyikaStreet #honestlylisa[/Tweet]

It feels like an impossible task to be honest with yourself.

"It's so easy to lie when you're 6'8" and 300lbs. Everyone thinks you're a celebrity."-Sanyika

"I never want to walk the red carpet because I feel so invisible." - Lisa

Sanyika realized that red carpets are for selling yourself or something, so he rarely walks one.

"If you are caught up in a world where you are not being honest with yourself, then no one can help you- no one knows what your challenges are." - Sanyika

This process of revelation, vulnerability began with a video blog to tell his story.

Lisa finds it easier to tell the truth on stage than real life.

How do you find that? Meditation? Therapy?

"We aren't really learning anything new about ourselves, it's more about a revelation process." - Sanyika

If you keep hiding, you're going to betray the people who instilled the confidence in you, and the people you could be helping. - Lisa/Sanyika

Fans - Real people, maybe even your family and friends for you to be inspirational for. Not even Beyonce status.

How do you not shit all over who you were, not that you're feeling better.

"The greatest gift in that struggle is humility" - Sanyika

The inability to embrace people you don't agree with, when you're trying to teach the world to be more accepting.

Sanyika's Instagram for awesome videos every day

This has to resonate with me first, anything he wants to teach someone else.

"There's nothing more impactful than doing something every day." -Sanyika

Some mornings you don't want to do it, but every day you have a choice. It's a very simple equation.

We have choices for more than whats for dinner. Even feelings, "I don't have to feel that way."

"It's so real to me, so grounded in my reality and who I am" - Sanyika, on sharing videos every day

That reality guides him. It has to come from the right place.

"I am the happiest I've ever been on this planet, and that is the most powerful I can be" - Sanyika

I just want to absorb his happiness! I don't know what happiness is most of the time.

How shaving your boyfriend's back can bring intimacy - it's not the moments you think they are!

We are monkeys grooming each other, nothing more intimate.

"It's not the award on the stage. It is the impact of great moments in your life aligning at the right time " -Sanyika

--Or the ability to see it! - Lisa

We are searching for the path, we want to know the way.

Things we aspire to 1) Better quality of life, and 2) Better quality relationships

We are really not in this alone, we are sharing a human experience.

Incubating your own ideas feels like insanity. OR asking everyone else what to do. Where are you in this?

"We must pursue information with the curiosity of a 5 year old, and with the diligence to challenge everyone." -Sanyika

You have to do the work on your own, and then ask others when you hit a roadblock.

If you want to find the answers, you need to ask the questions and surround yourself with others who will ask you questions for you to answer!

Be wary of people who tell you what to do. No one can tell you what to do, when you want something in your heart.

[Tweet theme="tweet-box-normal-blue"]"As people we underestimate the importance of communities." @SanyikaStreet #honestlylisa #honestlylisapodcast[/Tweet]

Biggest punishment in society-- solitary confinement. "

We punish ourselves by trapping ourselves in our own ideas. The first thing you do is be honest!" - Sanyika

Make sure you watch Tony Robbin's documentary "I am Not Your Guru" - bust down your misperceptions, because he is amazing at helping people.

Communities are critical to advancing society, because we can't replicate our individual selves.

We have a gift, but there are other things we aren't good at, and we need help.

How do I create a community, get people to help me with what I'm doing?

"You have to have a message that's greater than you" - Sanyika

You think that people gravitate toward you because you're the hero. But there is a journey that that hero embarks upon- They are searching for a mentor.

The mentor empowers the hero to be their best self.

Follow the formula that relates to the client/customer/audience. It's never been about you.

Danielle LaPorte's Desrie Map - Figuring out what motivates your soul, and being honest and going through ups and downs with yourself.

Dinner Dead or Alive: Tony Robbins

Being open to the possibilities of what your desires show to you. Not getting caught up in the original goal.

What do I want to do? What are the actions I need to do to get there?

Shannon Bobo

I really just think if I have her close to me for 50 minutes, then I can grab some of that youthful exuberance, that vivaciousness, that positive feeling that it will stick to me like glue..

"I just have this zest for life, I guess. It's not always easy, I can tell you that. It's a choice. A moment by moment choice" - Shannon

"Unless you're about to fly me somewhere or pay me something, you don't need to know how old I am" - Shannon

Did stand up for youth christian highschool kids, no wonder she felt she didn't do so well.

Why we don't really care if our family and friends come out to see our stand up.

Shannon is live streaming comedy for sonicbox up to seven hours, daily. Not porn-actually! People listen all day at work, and she's actually developing a fan base.

This video "The Struggle is Real" about online dating!

"I don't believe in god outside of us" - Shannon on asking for energetic help when she needs it.

She grew up in a non-denominational christian church with gospel and shaming, "Beat you up type church." It felt so wrong to her that the pastor was driving a Cadillac from multiple passings of the collection plat--and the toilets in the church didn't flush.

"In order to not feel bad about all the wrongs all the time, we have to make fun of it to ourselves"-Lisa

Shannon was way more interested in having intelligent conversations with the grown ups and they were always telling her to get out and play.

She came to LA to be an actor, but didn't believe it could be a practical career for her, so she worked in casting.

"I will make the rules in life as long as it's kindness" - Lisa

"I'm learning about myself, by who I want to be around" - Shannnon

"What is it about me, that I see in him?" - Shannon

It's not necessary to be the broke actor, casting is such a weird crap shoot, you can't get caught up in it because it's a numbers lottery.

"If the job is yours, it was always yours. If you didn't book it, it was never yours." - Shannon

"I never let one thing be my source." Shannon on moving on when her jobs weren't working out.

Shannon grew up half in Evanston, IL  "Moral-Obama-Black sort of thing, street but sweet" - Shannon

"I think all my high school friends who thought I was weird think I'm cool now"- Lisa + Shannon

She followed her boyfriend to college in Madison, and he broke up with her right before school started!

Last boyfriend was a minister of new thought, old wisdom and was super manipulative. After they were together for 3-4 years, he turned around and said something completely different.

Manifesting manipulation: Trump seems pretty happy with all his money, even though he does horrible things.

Online dating doesn't work for us. "They are always much shorter than they say" but it's okay because her friends fix her up all the time.

The Four Man Plan by Cindy Lewis - That book did not work for Shannon. It was way too much work, even though getting the date wasn't the hard part.

"He tried to kiss me and I wanted to throw up" - Shannon on dating against your type and forcing it.

"So do you think he was farting out of anger?" - Lisa

"You don't want me, and I'm good with that- I want everyone in the whole world to like me, and that is bad." - Lisa

"I don't feel bad at all, cause I dodged the bullet" - Shannon on guys being mean after she turns them down.

"If someone doesn't like you, it has everything to do with them, nothing to do with you" - Shannon

How to leave a love note on iTunes for Honestly Lisa Podcast.

From your computer:

1. Open the iTunes software on your desktop. (Not the web version.)

2. In the search bar (upper right-hand corner), type in “Honestly Lisa”.

3. Click on our album cover that pops up towards the bottom of the screen. 4. This will take you to the homepage for our show, but make sure you don’t accidentally select one of our individual episodes instead.

5. Right under the show description, you’ll see three tabs. “Ratings & Reviews” is the second one listed, and this is the one you want to click on.

6. On that page, there should be a button called “Write A Review” and if you click there, it will hopefully let you create a post with your thoughts!

From your iPhone:

1. Open the “podcast” app that comes pre-installed on all current apple smartphone devices.

2. In the lower right-hand corner, you’ll click on the magnifying glass “search” button and type in “marriage is funny”.

3. Click on our album cover that pops up towards the bottom of the screen. This will take you to the homepage for our show, but make sure you don’t accidentally select one of our individual episodes instead.

4. Select the “reviews” tab toward the top of the screen, and you’ll see a purple “Write a Review” button on the next page.

5. It might ask you to log in to your iTunes account, but otherwise, this will open a form where you can enter your thoughts!

On the outside looking in, Nikki looked to me like she has it all! And I wanted to know from Nikki why and if she could help get me get it all, relationship, business, crazy ass confidence and drive. Or just confidence.

I said outloud on the podcast twice that I have been thinking about marriage again. So if you see my boyfriend don’t tell him I said that. Don’t worry. He does not read the show notes or read my blog or listen to my podcast. Honestly he doesn’t know about Honestly Lisa and I plan to keep it that way.

Nikki has found her purpose in life, and that purpose is business! Nikki is here to pursue business, to learn it, and to teach it to you!

Today I got to chat with the awesome Nikki Tanyika Lewis about everything from sheep and our love of Target, to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Check out Nikki’s Biz Underdog to Topdog blog and podcast here!

Find Nikki's Facebook page here.

Nikki has provided a freebie sample of her book The Ultimate Food Business Starter Guide, so  check it out! If you want more, the ebook is available here (she even has an audiobook version available if you don’t feel like reading).
